The hardenability of 20CrNiMo round steel is similar to that of 20CrNi steel. Although the content of Ni in the steel is half that of 20CrNi steel, the upper part of the austenite isothermal transition curve shifts to the right due to the addition of a small amount of Mo element.

The hardenability of 20CrNiMo round steel is similar to that of 20CrNi steel. Although the content of Ni in the steel is half that of 20CrNi steel, the upper part of the austenite isothermal transition curve shifts to the right due to the addition of a small amount of Mo element. Due to the appropriate increase of Mn content, the hardenability of this steel is still very good, and the strength is higher than that of 20CrNi steel. It is often used in the manufacture of gears in the engine and transmission system of small and medium-sized automobiles and tractors. It can also replace 12CrNi3 steel to manufacture carburized parts and cyaniding parts requiring higher core performance, such as the claws and cone bodies of cone drill bits for oil drilling and metallurgical open-pit mines. 20CrNiMo round steel contains molybdenum in addition to having good comprehensive properties but also can withstand a certain temperature. Forgings are used in the manufacture of gear full rotor valve section of internal combustion engine connecting rod for steam turbines.
