S10C has good plasticity, toughness, cold and hot processing, weldability, no tempering brittleness, but poor hardenability and hardenability.

Can be manufactured of the parts which the force is not large and high toughness, such as car body, storage, deep stamping utensils, pipes, gaskets, etc., can be used for cold rolling, cold punching, cold heading, cold bending, hot rolling and other processes, also can be used as the core strength is not high carburizing parts, carbonitriding parts, etc.

S20C rarely quenches and has no tempering brittleness. High cold deformation plasticity, generally for bending, calendering, bending and hammer arch and other processing, arc welding and contact welding performance is good, gas welding thickness is small, strict shape requirements or complex shape of the workpiece prone to crack. The machinability of cold drawing or normalizing state is better than the annealing state, S20C is generally used to manufacture parts with little force and high toughness requirements.

S45C steel is made of pure static steel by electric furnace, open furnace or pure oxygen converter steelmaking process. The steel has uniform microstructure and no organizational defects. The carbon content of the steel is more than 0.4%, excellent wear resistance, but the ductility is reduced, and the quenching is easy to deform and crack, so the heat treatment is important, and the quenching is quenched to avoid the occurrence of tempering brittleness. The machinability of this kind of carbon steel can be improved by spheroidizing the steel.
